Web IMACS VERSION 4

WEB-IMACS is a system for managing information which is accessed through a web browser.

It uses the standard IMACS database and therefore has all of the security features of the client-server version.

It is normally used in conjunction with the client-server version with which it shares most of the functionality.

For an organization where gathering and retrieval of information at diverse locations is a requirement it provides a convenient and cost-effective solution.

WHERE CAN WEB-IMACS BE EFFECTIVE?

WEB-IMACS can provide immediate benefits for staff who travel to meetings and need to have access to a wide range of information.

It allows them to browse through the information and view any of it by a simple dial-up connection.

WEB-IMACS is very useful at regional offices where information can be entered either by scanning or directly which then becomes available at the head office. Similarly information from other offices can be retrieved directly.

Access through the web for traveling staff is simply a matter of logging into the company’s web site.

SECURITY

All of the data files are individually encrypted and are not accessible except through the database. This gives security from hackers and further data security is provided by the standard back-up features on the server. In addition there is comprehensive control of user permissions which ensures that only data to which a user has authority to see is available to him.

INSTALLATION

WEB-IMACS is available through Windows Explorer.

EASE OF USE

The data is classified by area and by document type. This is all user-definable and can be set up to model almost any organization. Access to the data is intuitive and training is rarely necessary. Up-loading of data over the web is available for scanned documents, digital photographs or any file produced under Windows.

WORKFLOW

The IMACS workflow function is an integral part of the database. Tasks are given to users through their In-Box. This is also the case with WEB-IMACS so that users can access their tasks either through a client-server link or across the web

TECHNICAL

WEB-IMACS is written using ‘Progress’ Web Speed software. The database can reside on a suitable server running UNIX, Windows server.

The web access is through Windows explorer.The data files are stored on a server which may be the same as for the database or may be a linked data server. The system administration is carried out from a client server work station.
